"5GOs" is a new cultural and art movement in Macau NOW. Even if you are not in Macau or you have only travelled to Macau once, please join this movement by taking five simple steps so that we will be able to have greater voice for . As you will see, we will need your photographs and if we can receive them, that would be a wonderful encouragement for all of Macau’s residents.
Why the “5 GOs” ?
“5 GOs” is happening in Macau because the construction development schedule is still uncertain for new land reclamation projects that were recently announced for the city. The first public consultation starts from 19 June and it will last for two months. However, according to the official data, art and culture groups can only be invited for public consultation once during this phase, and that will be on 7 August. During this period, if we keep waiting for the governmental plan, we are afraid the result will not meet society’s needs. The so-called art and cultural facilities would then become mere decoration blocks in new areas and so we have chosen not to believe the mainstream mass media, but instead, begin by first setting up a Facebook Group to gather people’s voices and opinions. At present, we are gathering individuals and groups from Macau and overseas who care for Art and Culture in Macau. We hope to brainstorm not only cultural facilities, but also art activities. All in all, we strongly demand a total plan for Art and Culture for Macau’s people.
How to take part in the “5 GOs” ?
It is very simple to take part in “5 GOs” for a total plan of Macau culture and art. Everyone can easily complete it by following these steps. We hope that teachers and students, parents and children, employers and employees will all take action by emailing “5 GOs” around to friends and family and to those abroad.
First, please choose one new neighborhood area from the map. Then write down what art and culture facilities and activities you want in that area. Now you can print it, cut it, and take a photo of it. The very last step is to upload the photo to our Facebook Group, or email it to: 5gooooos@gmail.com
Please believe that you have the right to dream, and that you should have courage to fulfill your dreams. This power for art and culture in Macau will hopefully gradually flourish and form immutable common public viewpoints. This matter should not be delayed. Now, let’s “5 GOs”!
